  • A laboratory result from Viollier with the analysis ‘SARS-CoV-2 PCR’ and the result ‘negative’ resp. 'positive'
  • For 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' analysis and the result 'negative', the sample collection must have occurred no longer than 72 hours ago and the cost must be borne by the patient.
  • For 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' analysis and the result 'positive', the sample collection must have occurred no longer than 270 days ago. The COVID certificate is currently valid from the eleventh day after sample collection
  • The COVID Certificate App installed on your smartphone

What result is needed to obtain a COVID certificate for a SARS-CoV-2 PCR test?

You can generate the COVID certificate if the result of your SARS-CoV-2 PCR is 'negative' resp. 'positive'. 

For 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' analysis and the result 'negative', the sample collection must have occurred no longer than 72 hours ago and the cost must be borne by the patient.

For 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' analysis and the result 'positive', the sample collection must have occurred no longer than 270 days ago. The COVID certificate is currently valid from the eleventh day after sample collection.

 

How long does it take to get the result of a SARS-CoV-2 PCR?

The analysis 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' is performed at Viollier 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (24/7). On average, the result is  usually available within 24 hours (average 12 hours) from the arrival of the sample at the laboratory.

Viollier will not be held responsible in any way for missed travels, flights or other activities due to delayed result transmission.

If you use the My Viollier App and have activated notifications, you will receive a push notification as soon as your reports are available.

Costs

What is the cost of a 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR'?

The analysis 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' costs CHF 72.-.

 

As of 01.01.2023, the costs for SARS-CoV-2 analyses will no longer be covered by the federal government. Doctor-ordered tests will be covered by the compulsory health insurance (OKP) if the test is necessary to determine the further medical course of action. This is subject to the deductible and retention.

What do I need to have to create a valid COVID certificate from Viollier?

  • A laboratory result from Viollier with the analysis ‘Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 PCR’ and the result ‘negative’ resp. 'positive'.
  • For 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' analysis and the result 'negative', the sample collection must have occurred no longer than 72 hours ago and the cost must be borne by the patient.
  • For 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' analysis and the result 'positive', the sample collection must have occurred no longer than 180 days ago. The COVID certificate is currently valid from the eleventh day after sample collection.
  • The COVID Certificate App and the transfer code generated therein.

How do I obtain the transfer code?

Here is how to generate the transfer code directly in the COVID Certificate App on your smartphone:

  1. On the home page, tap the '+' symbol  (bottom right) and subsequently on the ‘Generate Transfer Code’ button.
  2. Tap on ‘Create Code’ in the new window.
  3. Your personal, 9-digit transfer code will be displayed.
  4. Make a note of the transfer code to create for your COVID certificate.

Where can I find the order no.?

  • The order no. (e.g. 001/ 12.345.678) can be found on your laboratory report from Viollier with the analysis ‘Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 PCR’.
  • Contact the prescribing doctor / prescriber if you do not have access to the Viollier laboratory report or the My Viollier App.

I created a COVID certificate but did not receive it. Why not?

This may be caused by one of the following reasons:

  • The sample collection for the analysis 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' with the result 'negative' was more than 72 hours ago when the certificate was created.
  • The sample collection for the analysis 'SARS-CoV-2 PCR' with the result 'positive' was more than 180 days ago when the certificate was created.
  • The last 8 order of the order no. on the laboratory report and your date of birth do not match.
  • The last 8 digits of the order no. on the laboratory report Viollier do not match the analysis ‘Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 PCR’.
  • The transfer code has expired.
  • The transfer code entered does not match the generated transfer code.

I am using the My Viollier App. How can I create a COVID certificate using it?

Follow these steps to create a COVID certificate via My Viollier:

  1. In the My Viollier App, open your report with the analysis ‘Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 PCR’.
  2. Tap on ‘COVID certificate’. This will take you to the Viollier web page ‘COVID certificate’.
  3. Add your transfer code in the form on the Viollier web page ‘COVID certificate’. You generate the transfer code directly in the COVID Certificate App.
  4. Tap on ‘Apply for certificate’.
  5. After positive verification of your information by Viollier, you will receive the valid COVID certificate on your COVID Certificate App.
