Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2
At the Viollier AG’s outpatient clinics, diagnostic testing is not carried out due to the infection prevention measures recommended by the Federal Office of Public Health.
Case definition
A suspected case meets the current case definition criteria of the World Health Organization with:

acute respiratory disease AND fever*
- PLUS: Travel or residence in an affected area (China) within the last 14 days
- OR close contact to a laboratory confirmed case
* Fever may be absent in some cases
Reporting obligation
All physicians must report any suspected infection with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 to the respective cantonal medical office by telephone within 2 hours.
Diagnostics
The cantonal doctor determines if diagnostic testing is indicated. The virus is detected by PCR from swabs of the respiratory tract at the National Reference Laboratory for emerging viral diseases in Geneva.
Further information
In Switzerland, none of the samples analyzed have tested positive for the new coronavirus. The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) considers it to be possible that cases may occur in Switzerland. The FOPH provides regular information on the current situation in Switzerland and internationally.
