Note

Ethylglucuronide is a metabolite of ethanol and therefore a very sensitive and specific marker for alcohol intake. Ethylglucuronide has a longer half-life in urine than ethanol. An elevated Ethylglucuronide value in urine detects alcohol intake for a maximum of 80 hours. Ethylglucuronide values can be altered by bacterial influence. Ethyl sulphate (EtS) is a highly specific metabolite of ethanol that is recommended as confirmatory marker for ethyl glucouronide (EtG). Alcohol consumption is considered proven if both metabolites are present.
