How diagnostic services are billed
Diagnostics provide medical clarity. Billing follows clearly defined rules.
This page explains how diagnostic services are provided and the statutory tariffs governing how they are billed.
Examinations based on medical orders
Viollier performs diagnostic services solely on the basis of the order placed by the treating doctor or client.
The information provided in the order is decisive for the type and scope of the analyses.
The doctor’s prescription thus forms the medical basis for:
- carrying out examinations
- subsequent billing
Why additional analyses may be necessary
Additional analyses may be required as part of a professional diagnostic assessment, in particular:
- to confirm a report
- to clarify unclear or contradictory results
- to ensure a medically reliable diagnosis
Such supplementary analyses are conducted out of medical necessity only.
They serve to ensure the quality and reliability of the diagnostic result and are only carried out if needed for a reliable diagnostic assessment.
