Test method for investigating dexamethasone bioavailability during the dexamethasone inhibition test. The simultaneous measurement of dexamethasone together with cortisol reduces false-positive dexamethasone inhibition tests by approx. 20% and improves the specificity accordingly. A dexamethasone level of >3.3 nmol/L should be sufficient for the suppression of cortisol <50 nmol/L. |
