NT-proBNP (incl. GFR)
Keywords
Cardiomyopathy, Heart failure, N-terminal proBNP, NT-BNP, pro BNP
| Material |

|
| Note |
A reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR) can lead to an accumulation of NT-proBNP in the blood. This can lead to incorrectly high values and consequently to an incorrect interpretation. It is therefore recommended to determine the NT-proBNP together with the renal function. | The assay is disrupted by biotin. Intake of biotin can cause false-low results. | Limitation for reimbursement by the health insurance company: clarification of the acute dyspnea to exclude acute or chronic heart failure; not for therapy monitoring. |
